Choosing outdoor gear starts with understanding the conditions it needs to handle. At e-grin, we compare equipment for wind, sand, heat, sun and exposure to water—not simply by counting features.
We identify the exact product
Names alone can be misleading. We check product references and model details so that specifications from different sizes or versions are not mixed together.
We use documented specifications
Our research-backed comparisons use manufacturer information and relevant retailer documentation. We distinguish declared specifications from our own interpretation of their practical implications.
When important sources disagree, we flag the uncertainty or leave the product out until the difference can be resolved.
We explain the trade-offs
More coverage can mean more weight. A smaller packed size does not guarantee an easier setup. We focus on the differences that help readers choose equipment for their conditions, available space and transport needs.
A recommendation should explain who a product suits, where it falls short and when another option makes more sense.
We are clear about testing
Research is not hands-on testing. We do not claim to have used a product unless we have actually done so.
Our research-backed guides state when products have not been physically tested. Manufacturer claims are attributed, and we do not invent performance measurements.
We consider care and useful life
Where information is available, we examine maintenance, repair guidance and replacement parts. We do not describe a product as sustainable simply because it is made for outdoor use.
We separate recommendations from affiliate links
Our current guides do not contain affiliate links. If we introduce them, we will clearly disclose their use.
We check relevant merchant programmes before developing commercial guides, but a programme’s existence does not guarantee that e-grin will be accepted or that every product will qualify.
Affiliate availability is a commercial requirement; it is not evidence that a product performs better.
